I recently viewed a fascinating video about hermit crabs that wear plastic. The hermit crab is born without a shell, so it has to go out searching for a suitable seashell to use as a home. As it outgrows the shell, it discards it and adopts a more suitable one.  When the crab can’t find a shell to creep into, it uses what’s available: beach trash such as plastic tops and lids! Let’s face it, it’s not the ideal home, but a crab’s gotta do what a crab's gotta do.

Just like those crabs, human beings need more than just a shelter; they need a suitable place to call “home”. For me, “home” is where my loved ones are and where my stuff is.

The Heart of the Home 

I was inspired to do a painting of my own home after I saw Cas Brennan's custom paintings of people's homes (see Guest Artist below). It was an interesting exercise as I tried to draw the viewer into the welcoming depths of the entrance of my home.  Look, there I am, inviting you in for a cup of coffee and a chat!

Spiritual Home 

It’s a blessing to have a physical home - no matter how humble - but it’s even more gratifying to have a spiritual home with Christ as the Foundation. I love meeting with my faith-family to fellowship, share, encourage and gather strength for the tasks ahead.

April's guest artist is South African born Cas Brennan who now lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana, USA. Cas is a prolific artist and excels in various genres, styles and media.
